VPK Instructor Requirements

School year VPK Program

  • VPK instructors must have at minimum a Child Development Associate (CDA) of Equivalent (CDAE) earned within the last five (5) years; or

  • An Associate's Degree or higher in Child Development; or

  • An Associate's Degree or higher in an unrelated field, with at least 6 credit hours in early childhood education or child development, and at least 480 hours of experience in teaching or providing childcare services for children any age from birth to 8 years of age; For a more detailed list, click here.

Summer VPK Program

  • A valid (current) Florida Educator Certificate; or

  • A Bachelor's Degree or higher in early childhood education, pre-kindergarten or primary education, preschool education, or family and consumer science; For a more detailed list click here.

Picture the Future - Support the career dreams of Florida's young children by sending a letter about the promise of high quality early learning to the future Governor of Florida. Picture the Future is the first in a series of events designed to raise the visibility of the Children's Campaign's 5 Promises to Parents Platform. This effort educates voters about children's issues including maternal and children's health care, child protection, Pre-K and child care, after school activities and juvenile justice. Picture the Future focuses on high quality Pre-K and early learning.
